5 tips to maximise your wedding flower budget
1. REPURPOSING & strategic placement
Re-purposing is still a popular idea for weddings - and your wedding florist or wedding co-ordinator should be willing and able to assist - for example, any of the following ideas will work - to move your wedding aisle decor to the reception tables, the registrar flowers to the top table (or sweetheart table) or the chair ends into smaller vases for other decoration.
Have a think about where the high visibility spots are, such as, ceremony backdrop and main reception tables.
Invest in one dramatic arch or garland for big photo impact, rather than lots of small arrangements dotted around the venue. You may actually end up spending more money on lots of small flower designs - when a high impact design overall may cost less!

2. SEASONAL WEDDING FLOWERS
Aim to use flowers that are in season, it really does make a big difference in your price.
Requesting out of season flowers is more expensive and they won’t be at their best (yes, they can be flown from other countries, but the carbon footprint is big!). So, if you are interested in helping the environment, then ask your florist for seasonal and consider British flowers too (the British flower season is from April up to about early October).

3. SIMPLIFY YOUR BRIDESMAIDS BOUQUETS
Although a bridesmaids bouquet remains the most popular option, you can always opt for something else - such as bridesmaid hair flowers or a flower corsage or they could carry a single flower bouquet - such as a large calla lily.
Gypsophila bouquets were once a popular trend a few years ago - as they were considered inexpensive - but now due to supply and demand - are one of the most expensive stems in the wedding season, so ask your florist for some ideas and what other trendy options are available.

4. TRY TO AVOID PEAK SEASON
When choosing your wedding date - consider if the date falls during UK holiday time - try to avoid peaks in a florists calendar - such as Mothers day, Valentines, and also the week before Christmas.
These dates are hectic for the flower industry, if it is the best date for you from a sentimental perspective, then just be aware you will be paying more for your flowers, and sometimes the stems may triple in price!

5. KEEP IT SIMPLE
Whilst big and lush arrangements are very beautiful, however, there is something about the simplicity of a bud vase with just a few stems in each that we love. If you are dead set on having expensive focal flowers such as peonies or garden roses, then how about displaying them in small bud vases. A peony is usually 3-4 inches wide, so you only need a few for a big effect!
The other option - if you have your heart set on expensive peonies - is to include them in your bouquet as it will be one of the main photographed flowers - and then chose for the rest of your wedding flowers something a bit more budget friendly! Examples are - bloom carnations, germinis or sunflowers.
